Top tips to keep your home cosy this winter

With Summer temperatures still a few months away, its still important to make sure that your home heating is running as efficiently as possible.

Block Draughts
Its a simple solution that really makes a difference  and makes sure that the heat is not going to waste. Covering windows, doors and fireplaces is an effective way to keep the warmth within a room. Try using draught excluders in front of doors and heavy lined curtains to cover large windows. These few simple steps could reduce heat loss by 40%

Cover the floorboards
Did you know that an estimated 10% of household heat is lost through un-insulated floorboards. This is according to the National Energy Foundation. Cover your floorboards with rugs to prevent heat loss and keep you feet cosy

Keep doors shut
Close doors to any rooms that aren’t in use. to ensure the cold air does not escape and circulate in warmer spaces unnecessarily

Unblock the radiators
Avoid placing large pieces of furniture in front of your radiators, which will block the heat form entering the room and will also be absorbing the heat

Set a timer
Setting a timer to heat the house before you arrive  home is an efficient way to save energy and cost. By switching on the heating earlier, the house will heat up gradually. This is a much more cost effective option than turning up the thermostat to heat the house rapidly on arrival
