A heat pump ‘collects’ free energy from the atmosphere which is converted into heat, generating up to 5kWh of thermal energy for every 1 kWh of electrical energy used.
The technology works in a similar way to a domestic refrigerator, using a vapour compression cycle. The main components in the heat pump are the compressor, the expansion valve and two heat exchangers (an evaporator and a condenser). A fan draws the outdoor air into the heat pump where it meets the evaporator, turning the refrigerant into gas.
Then, using a compressor, the gas temperature is raised, in the same principle the back of a fridge is warm, to be transferred via the condenser into the propertie's heating system. When the heat is drawn down, the gas refrigerant reverts back to liquid form, ready to generate more new heat.
Using the latest advanced manufacturing techniques and facilities with only the highest quality sourced materials, combining British design, quality control, engineering and ethical business practice, our heat pumps provide optimum performance at typical UK winter temperatures (between -7ºC to 7ºC ) and deliver exceptionally high COP’s of 5+ (A7/LWT35). This means they are more efficient providing cheaper running costs.
Our unique defrost process means we get better performance in the critical temperature range of between -2°C & +2°C because our units go into defrost mode less often.
(COP is the ratio of heat produced vs energy used. ie, a COP of 5 means the heat pump produces 5 units of heat for every 1 unit of energy used to power the heat pump)
With space heating and hot water accounting for nearly three quarters of the energy consumed in our homes, the introduction of a sustainable Air Source Heat Pump becomes a more considered choice!
Heat Pumps harvest and convert free outdoor air into renewable environment friendly heating. Our industry leading range of monobloc heat pumps average an output of 3.8kW for every 1kW of input electrical energy, operating efficiently in temperatures as low as -15°C saving up to 60% on home energy bills.
The Department of Energy & Climate Change (DECC) predicts that by 2030 approximately 26% of the UK’s heating energy output will be met by Air Source Heat Pumps alone, and as much as 56% will be met by Air Source Heat Pump Hybrid systems.
Yes, heat pumps are designed to perform efficiently even in low temperatures, including below freezing.
A heat pump captures energy from the outdoor air and converts it into heat to warm your home and provide hot water - even in sub-zero temperatures.
For every 1kWh of electricity used, a heat pump can produce up to 5kWh of thermal energy. That’s up to 500% efficiency, far beyond conventional gas or oil boilers.
